John Bear's life experience is filled with the challenges of many Native Americans who have had to adapt and make sense of their lives in modern culture. His Grandparents teachings have given him the strength to find a positive role by blending traditional Native values and contemporary reality.

John is of Choctaw / Apache heritage and was taught to play the flute at an early age and used the Native flute to carry him through the many transitions in adult life. His many challenges have motivated John to participate in Pow-wow committees, as well as serving in drug & alcohol programs, playing the flute & teaching positive life practices. His traditional style of play expresses John's connection with his family and the values they taught him.

Today John composes his flute songs from his rich present day & past life experiences. The melodies are haunting, soothing and filled with his natural connection to the Native American Flute.

Canyon Shadows CD
Canyon Shadows is a Travis Terry's CD release. Many of the songs contain multiple flute parts and Travis is accompanied by Odell Borg and Zack Farley. The majority of the songs are written by Travis and are inspired by his experiences and love of Canyon de Chelly.
High Spirits newest flutes are featured on this CD: the Condor Contra Bass in "F#" and Kestrel "high F#". This gives the option of 3 octaves in the key of "F#", the "high F#", the Golden Eagle "F#" (mid-range) and the Condor Contra Bass "F#". Echoes of the Canyon Wall - music CD
Featuring well known native flute player Travis Terry. He & his wife Cara (a Navajo artist in her own right) reside at the Navajo Nation's Canyon de Chelly. Also on the recording are flute artists Harry Seavey and Odell Borg. Many of the songs were created with multiple flute parts giving them a rich full texture. All the songs were recorded using High Spirits flutes.
