One of the most common questions from those just starting out is, "What kind of flute should I buy?"
Well,if you have never played an instrument before I highly recommend the Sparrow
Hawk in the key of "A". It has a wonderful voice and it's easy to play. Most of us are tempted by the low toned flutes, but they do require a bit more skill then a first time player might have. These lower tone flutes are longer and require more breath control to get a sweet sound. The above mentioned Sparrow Hawk "A" flute has a mid range voice that is very pleasant to the ear.
It is important to remember that starting with a flute that is easy to play
speeds up the process of learning and if you get hooked you will want other
flutes anyway. Everything you learn on an easy flute will transfer to
future flutes you play.If you have in the past, or play a woodwind now, you will be able to play any of our flutes. All of our instruments do come with FREE instructional materials that are easy to understand without needing a musical background of any kind. That is why this instrument is so easy to learn. If you have more detailed questions, please give us a call at (800) 394-1523 or e-mail me. A note about Native American flutes - just as a "French horn" is a particular type of musical instrument, "Native American flute" refers to a particular type of musical instrument and does not imply that it was made by an enrolled member of a federally-recognized tribe. Although Odell has Native American ancestry (Ojibway) and his flutes are owned, used and endorsed by many prominent Native American musicians, High Spirits flutes are not "Native American made" as specified by the U.S. Government. If it is your desire to own a flute made by an enrolled member of a federally-recognized Native American tribe, you can find flutemakers through a web search.
